New body Part 3

I just realized I never posted the part 3 of my new body series and well I should. The end of the day led me to my favorite bar in NYC, the Way Station in Brooklyn and eventually Grand Central Terminal for my ride back home.

What can I say of my new/used Nikon D700 body, especially now that I've been using it for well over a month now? It has a fantastic low light shooting capability with relatively no noise in the ISO range, I can safely shoot at 4000 ISO and only a small amount of noticeable noise is visible at 5000 6400. With the accompaniment of some great lenses, this full frame format body produces wonderfully sharp and crisp images. The only downside to the D700 would be its weight, which you can definitely feel once you've added on a battery grip and a lens like the Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 or the older Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 push pull dinosaur zoom and I'm not sure if it's just me or not, but the shutter does seem to sound a bit louder when clicked than on my Nikon D300.

Over all though am I happy with my new/used purchase? Hell yes! Just recently I was on assignment for the Times Herald-Record and had to shoot a performance in a small theater with terrible lighting and didn't want to use flash as to disturb the performance or the crowd. At 6400 ISO and f/2.8 and a relatively fast shutter speed I was able to get a shot like this:
