Poet's Walk

Poets' Walk Park


Now that the last snow drifts of winter have finally melted I decided to explore more of my backyard in the Hudson Valley. It was particularly nice and sunny day when after a quick assignment for the newspaper over in Kingston I decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and drive across the Hudson River to Red Hook and check out Scenic Hudson's Poets' Walk Park and I'm glad that I did.

The trail is short and meanders through fields, a wee ravine and up through a bit of woods and although it is more of a stroll than a proper hike, don't let that stop you because the views offered here can be quite stunning. An added bonus is that the tract of land you wander through has an interesting and storied past to it, which you can read on the sign just before entering.

You're also bound to bump into a few people as you go, even on a weekday, when I visited, there were a lot people out enjoying the park as well. So with that, I'll take you on a quick tour:
